PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structurally new taxol derivative having an anti-tumor activity. SOLUTION: This 7, 8-cyclopropataxane having the anti-tumor activity is a compound of the following formula I [wherein, R1 is CORZ (wherein RZ is t-butyloxy, a 1-6C alkyl a 2-6C alkenyl, a 2-6C alkynyl, a 3-6C cylcloalkyl or phenyl which may be substituted with the same or different 1-3 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy, halogen or CF3 group); R2 is a 1-6C alkyl, a 2-6C alkenyl, a 2-6C alkynyl, a 3-6C cycloalkyl or a group of the formula: W-RX wherein W is a bond, a 2-6C alkenediyl or (CH2)t [wherein, (t) is 1-6]; RX is naphthyl, furyl thinenyl or phenyl, and further RX may be substituted with the same or different 1-3 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy, halogen or CF3 group}; R3 is OCOR, OCOOR, H or OH (wherein R is a 1-6C alkyl); and R4 is H].
