PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorptive article with excellent workability and leak proofing performance which is capable of achieving sufficient leak proofing effect even when a bulky surface sheet is used, and which can be manufactured with high productivity and at a low cost. SOLUTION: In an absorption article provided with a liquid permeable surface sheet 2, a liquid impermeable back sheet 3, and a liquid holding absorption body 4 provided between both sheets 2, 3, substantially formed lengthwise, and having raised gathers 6, 6 a liquid shielding part 21 to prohibit move of liquid in the surface sheet 2 is linearly formed, and the liquid shielding part 21 is formed on the outer side of an circumferential edge part of the adsorptive body 4 at a part other than a junction part with a sheet material 61 for forming the raised gathers.
