PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a complex of metal colloid, metal oxide colloid or ultrafine semiconductor particles improved in the dispersion stability of a metal, metal oxide, or ultrafine semiconductor particles and in their reaction with functional compounds (groups with reaction specificity, or the like). SOLUTION: An ultrafine particle complex of a polyethylene glycol derivative having a mercapto group or a silanol group at itsα-end and a functional compound-reactive functional group at itsω-end with metal colloid, metal oxide colloid, or ultrafine semiconductor particles is provided.
