PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimum apparatus and a method capable of recovering a floating component, a solid and a filtrate impossible to recover heretofore by a conventional basket type centrifugal filter apparatus or capable of classifying the floating component and a sedimentation component. SOLUTION: In a basket type centrifugal filter apparatus provided with a rotary basket having filter cloth provided on the inner peripheral surface thereof under tension through a screen member to form a filter chamber, a siphon chamber provided so as to communicate with the filtrate side of the rotary basket, a siphon pipe for sucking and discharging the filtrate in the siphon chamber and variable in immersion depth, a raw liquid supply pipe for supplying a raw liquid into the rotary basket, a scraping knife for scraping off cake formed on the inner peripheral surface of the rotary basket and a discharge chute discharging the cake scraped off by the scraping knife, the height of the rim of the siphon chamber is made higher than of the rim of the filter chamber.
