PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright type electric vacuum cleaner capable of compacting a nozzle part and improving dust collecting efficiency. SOLUTION: A suction port 8 and a blow-off port 9 communicating with an almost cylindrical suction space 16 formed inside the nozzle part 3 are arranged. The back flow T of a motor-driven blower 4 is blown off through a blow-off flow passage 14 from the blow-off port 9 to the suction space 16 and a turning air stream is generated. Dust on a surface to be cleaned is blown up and sucked together with a suction air stream S from the suction port 8 and cleaning is efficiently performed.
