Perfluoroalkanesulfonate salts in electrochemical systems

Electrolyte compositions and electrochemical systems containing such compositions are described where the electrolyte includes in a matrix material a combination of a conductive imide or methide salt and a perfluoroalkanesulfonate additive salt. The compositions reduce high temperature capacity fade, aluminium current collector corrosion and improve safety while maintaining and improving conductivity, stability, and compatibility with other cell components.
