PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an α-amino acid amide compound without needing an aminonitrile process. SOLUTION: This method for producing the α-amino acid amide compound, characterized by reacting an aldehyde cyanhydrin represented by the general formula (1): R1CH(CN)OH (1) (R1 is H, a lower alkyl, a substituted lower alkyl, cyclohexyl, a substituted cyclohexyl, phenyl, a substituted phenyl, benzyl, a substituted benzyl, a heterocyclic group or a substituted heterocyclic group) with ammonia water in the presence of a ketone compound to produce the α-amino acid amide compound represented by the general formula (2): R1CH (NH2)CONH2 (2). |
