PURPOSE: Provided is an air cleaner using a photocatalyst and activating the photocatalyst by ozone. The air cleaner is equipped with a photocatalyst filter composed of photocatalyst material such as titanium oxide (TiO2) which has the functions of disinfection and deodorization. CONSTITUTION: The air cleaner is composed of an ozone generator (30) and a photocatalyst filter (1). If titanium oxide is used as a photocatalyst, photoenergy (3.2eV) with a wavelength of 350-400nm is needed to make the photocatalyst in an excited state. The photoenergy of more than band gap energy is generated when ozone divides into oxygen and oxygen radical which disinfects microbes by strong oxidizing power and reacts with odoriferous material.
