PURPOSE: A shadow mask for a cathode ray tube is provided to delete a step of an available screen surface of the shadow mask and achieve a complete screen which is more stable in visual in accordance with an axle length of a most outside slot formed along to a long side of the shadow mask and the other axle length of a just next slot of the most outside slot. CONSTITUTION: The shadow mask for the cathode ray tube includes an available surface(20-1) on which a plurality of halls shaping a slot. Y axle length of the first slot formed on the most outside row on the basis of the available surface(20-1) are similar to Y axle of the second slot which is adjacent to a lower or upper low of the first slot. The first and second slots have a bridge having a predetermined interval, respectively. The Y axles of the first and the second slots is small than Y axle of the third slot which is adjacent to the lower or the upper row of the first and the second slots.
