PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing an array substrate of a liquid crystal display device is provided to manufacture the liquid crystal display device in a various size with saving the manufacturing cost thereof. CONSTITUTION: (M+m) x (N+n) lots of pixels including surplus pixels and having a matrix shape are formed on a substrate. Then, a driving circuit section for driving each pixel is formed. After that, the defect of the pixel is checked. If the pixel has no defect, the surplus pixels are always maintained in a black state. In order to allow the surplus pixels to be maintained in the black state, the driving circuit section is controlled. That is, the driving circuit section is not attached to the portion corresponding to the surplus pixels. Alternatively, a gate wiring and a data wiring are cut to allow the surplus pixels to be maintained in the black state.
