PURPOSE:To provide compactness by positioning a merging part in an intake at the maximum outside system part of a crank case, positioning a carbureter wider than the merging part by closing the crank case bottom wall part, and positioning wider branch parts at the side closing a cylinder block. CONSTITUTION:In this four-cycle engine 6, a crank shaft 15 is vertically positioned to form a generally vertical state; and an intake manifold 45 is interposed at the upper part of a balancer shaft 40 positioned at the left side of a crank chamber A. The intake manifold 45 consists of a merging part 50 on the upperstream side for connecting a carbureter 46, a first and a second branch part 51, 52 branched toward intake ports 18a, 18b for steam cylinder on the upper side and the lower side from the merging part 50. The branch parts 51, 52 having the largest dimensions in the engine width direction are positioned at the side of the cylinder bore 16a of a cylinder block 16 having less invasion to the engine side. The merging part 50 is positioned at the skirt part 16b side. The carbureter 46 is positioned at the front side of a crank case 26. |
