PURPOSE: A data regeneration method and apparatus increasing data detection performance by compensating asymmetry are provided to improve data detection performance by compensating non-linear characteristic of a rising/falling edge and asymmetry of RF signal. CONSTITUTION: The data regeneration apparatus includes an equalizer which equalizes a digital signal to be input and supplies a signal to be equalized and a data detector which detects the data from output of the equalizer. A data regeneration method includes a stage which detects zero level at zero cross point of the input signal and a rising/falling edge to generates zero cross point(S102-S105), a stage which supplies the corrected zero level correcting zero level at the rising/falling edge detected from previous stage by length of the input signal, and a stage which corrects level of the input signal and compensates asymmetry of the input signal using the corrected zero level.
