摘要 PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling driving operation of single-phase switched reluctance motor is provided to achieve an improved safety and reliability of product by preventing damage to the internal component of the motor caused due to reverse rotation of the motor. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a single-phase switched reluctance motor(SRM)(10); the first sensor(20) for sensing the location of the low speed driving rotor of the single-phase SRM ; the second sensor(30) for sensing the location of the high speed driving rotor of the single-phase SRM; an AND gate(700) for performing AND logic operation to outputs from the first sensor and the second sensor; and a micro computer(400) for detecting the current rotational frequency of the single-phase SRM and the location of rotors in accordance with outputs of first and second sensors, outputting a driving signal for permitting the driving pulse having a pulse width corresponding to the detected rotational frequency, to be applied to the single-phase SRM, and stopping outputting of driving signal upon detection of reverse rotation of the single-phase SRM in accordance with the output from the AND gate; a pulse generating unit(50) for generating pulses in accordance with the driving signal output from the micro computer; and a driving unit(60) for supplying power corresponding to the pulse generated from the pulse generating unit so as to drive the single-phase SRM.
