PURPOSE: An add/drop connection device of a synchronous digital hierarchy system is provided to reduce a path toward a lower order tributary device and a path toward a higher order tributary into one, so as to simplify a configuration. CONSTITUTION: An aggregate device interface supplies an interface with an aggregate device. An HPC(Higher Order Path Connection)(208) receives higher order path data, and performs a cross connection by a space switching to output the data. An LPC(Lower Order Path Connection)(222) receives and processes lower order path data. If the data supplied from the aggregate device interface, a higher order tributary device, a lower order tributary device are the higher order path data, a selector(212) supplies the data to the HPC(208). If the data are the lower order path data, the selector(212) supplies the data to the LPC(222).
