PURPOSE: A shadow mask doming prevention structure of a flat cathode ray tube is provided to minimize the influence of creep by reducing stress to a shadow mask, and to effectively correct the tension degradation of the shadow mask to minimize howling and doming. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun for emitting electron beam toward fluorescent substance is encapsulated in a neck part fixed to a rear part of a panel glass. A deflection yoke is mounted on an outer circumference of the neck part to deflect the electron beam. A shadow mask(3) is fixed to an inner surface of the panel glass to select colors, and has a plurality of apertures. A frame assembly(7) consists of a main frame(7a) coupled to the shadow mask(3), and a sub frame(7b) connecting both ends of the main frame(7a). A heat correcting plate(12) is attached to a bottom part of the sub frame. The ratio(h/t) of the height(h) of the sub frame(7b) to the thickness(t) of the heat correcting plate(12) is in the range of 4-8.
