PROGRAMMING CIRCUIT FOR ELECTRICALLY-PROGRAMMABLE ELEMENT

PURPOSE: A programming circuit for electrically-programmable element is provided to monitor of the burning operation of the electrically programmable element during the programming operation. CONSTITUTION: A circuit configuration has a switchable element(T1) for programming a programmable element(F) whose conductor track resistance can be permanently altered by an electric current or an electric voltage. The programmable element(F) and the switchable element(T1) are connected in series and are connected to a first supply potential(V1) and a second supply potential(V2), respectively. A monitoring circuit(1) is connected in series with a series circuit formed by the programmable element(F) and the switchable element(T1) between the terminals for the first and the second supply potential. The monitoring circuit(1) measures an electrical parameter which is characteristic of a programming operation. Thus, it is possible to monitor the burning operation of the electrically programmable element(F) during the programming operation.
