PURPOSE: A character display device of a digital TV is provided to minimize memory access time and number and improve display rate of character array by receiving each font data of a corresponding character array from a source plane to record and display font data corresponding to one line of the character array to a destination plane in sequence. CONSTITUTION: A host(100) sets up a flush operation through a system bus(1) and outputs control information. A graphic engine unit(120) receives the control information through the system bus(1) to receive data of each character about a corresponding character array of a source plane through a memory bus(2) and to record font data corresponding to one line of the character array at a destination plane in sequence. An on-screen display unit(110) receives the control information of the host(100) to display data recorded in the destination plane through the memory bus(2).
