<p>Crude cold water-soluble product produced from propylene oxide and starch with phosphate salt catalyst without liquid reaction medium at >75 degrees F contaminated with highly subst. starch and propylene glycol dimers and trimers is purified by washing with a water/alcohol mixture (wt. ratio 0.1-0.7:1) at 35-150 degrees F and pH 3.5-7.0. Product has good taste, is odour free, has excellent appearance, and is acceptable in food uses.</p> |
