Mechanism has rear wheel hub (6), rotating freely about spindle (1), in contact with rear pinion (13) support (11) using friction washer (10). Support rotates freely on lever (15) which is displaceable by screwing on spindle using cable (19) connected to lever activated by cyclist. Screwing lever modifies position of support, pinion relative to hub, slipping of washer and driving of rear wheel hub.
