[Also in Division C5] Reforming catalysts comprise a porous inorganic oxide catalyst support having disposed thereon in intimate admixture from 0.01-3% of Pt and 0.01-5% of Re. Preferred supports are MgO, Al 2 O 3 , Si0 2 (and naturally occurring aluminium silicates which can be regarded as complexes of SiO 2 .Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 -ZrO 2 , SiO 2 - Al 2 O 3 -ZrO 2 ., SiO 2 -MgO, SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 M g O and zeolites (crystalline aluminosilicates). Preparation is conventional in that the oxide is usually immersed in soluble Pt and Re salt solutions. The conversion to metal may be effected in the presence of hydrogen. The catalyst may be promoted by S, Cl or F. |
