PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp that can prevent the quartz glass bulb from deforming and the brightness of the discharge tube from degrading by losing transparency and blackening even after operation for a long time, and that can be easily manufactured. SOLUTION: This high-pressure discharge lamp is equipped with a bulb made of quartz glass, a pair of electrodes and molybdenum foil. The said electrodes are disposed facing each other and joined with the said molybdenum foil as well, and the said bulb made of quartz glass and the said molybdenum foil are air-tightly sealed at the seal portions of the said bulb. The said bulb made of quartz glass are formed in a unit by synthesized unary and its viscosity is above 1013 poises at 1200 deg.C.
