A dry-distilling/volume reducing device for wastes comprising a superheated steam generator (1) for a generating superheated steam, a dry-distilling/volume-reducing unit (2) for heating wastes (5) by superheated steam supplied from the generator (1) for dry-distilling/volume-reducing, and heating gas supply means (4) for supplying exhaust gas from an engine (3) as a heating heat source for the generator (1). The above superheated steam may be generated by incompletely burning carbides (52) generated by heating organic wastes (51) at the dry-distilling/volume-reducing unit (2) by means of the heating gas supply means (4) to generate a combustible gas, and supplying the combustible gas to the superheated steam generator (1).
