The currency converter has an input unit (12), a selection arrangement (14,16) for defining an input currency, a computer unit connected to the input unit for performing the conversion and basic computing operations on entered amounts of the same currency and an output unit (28,30) with adjacent displays for the entered and computed currency amounts. The computer unit can also perform basic calculations with input amounts for different currencies in addition to the conversion operation.
