The invention features a rotor assembly for use with a rotating machine and includes a plurality of hubs; support structures disposed along a longitudinal axis of the assembly and together defining an internal volume for receiving the hubs; and coupling assemblies, each disposed between at least one of the hubs and at least one of the support structures and mechanically coupling the hub to the support structure. The hubs in aggregate, define a bore along the longitudinal axis of the assembly. The bore is sized and shaped to receive an output shaft of the rotating machine.
