PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reference device in which a fluid in a fixed quantity can be discharged precisely and which can detect an abnormality easily when a discharged quantity differs from a set value. SOLUTION: The volume reference device 5 is provided with a first fluid passage 10 which is opened on the outer circumferential face of a piston and which is directed to the side of the center of the piston from the outer circumferential face. The volume reference device is provided with a second fluid passage 40 which communicates with the first fluid passage 10 so as to be guided to the outside of a cylinder. The fluid which is leaked by passing the gap of a sliding part between the piston and the inner wall of the cylinder to the side of an inside chamber on the other side to an inside chamber on one side in two cylinder inside chambers is discharged to the outside of the cylinder through the first and second fluid passages. Thus, the seal defect of the piston can be inspected, It is possible to provide the volume reference device by which the leaked fluid can be confirmed at the outside of the cylinder, by which an abnormality at the inside of the cylinder can be detected and which is of high accuracy.
