<p>A direct internet access system providing high band width internet access to users, in addition to voice services, without any changes to the existing cabling infrastructure and an always-on internet access permanently available at the user premises, comprising a DSU which combines voice and internet data packets on a single twisted-pair wire at the user premises; an IAN, at the service provider's premises, for separating the voice and data traffic from a number of users and routing them independently to the PSTN and the internet respectively the IAN being connected to the internet through E1 data ports or an Ethernet port and to the PSTN through (1) and E1 voice port or (2) POTS lines with addition of an optional SMUX module that converts a single E1 line to multiple POTS lines.</p> |
