[Also in Division B6] A metallized strip comprises a transparent or translucent film of polyester 1 such as polyethylene terephthalate having a metallized surface 2 of, e.g. aluminium, which has a thin layer of PVC 3 laminated to the metallized surface and a layer of PVC 4 whose marginal edges 5 extend beyond those of the polyester strip 1 laminated to the other surface. The metallized strip may be bonded to a PVC extrusion 6 of any desired cross-section to form a decorative strip. The laminated strip may also be bonded to an extruded core 7 and the composite incorporated as an insert in an extrusion 8 of PVC to form a decorative strip of the type disclosed in Specification 1,056,697. In another embodiment, the marginal edges 5 may be folded round and bonded to PVC layer 3 and this strip may also be included in such extruded decorative strips. The surface of PVC layer 4 which is laminated to the polyester layer may be painted. The decorative strips may be used as edge trimmings on car body work or as filler strips in surrounds for windows. |
