<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture pickup device using electron emission elements that give stable electron emission at a low voltage. SOLUTION: This picture pickup device consists of a pair of the first and second substrates with vacuum space in between, a plurality of electron emitting elements provided on the first substrate, and a photo-conducting layer on the second substrate. Each of electron emitting element is composed of an insulation layer laminated on an electron feed layer that is formed on an ohmic electrode, and a thin metal film electrode laminated on the insulation layer, and the insulation layer and thin metal film electrode have an electron emitting island region gradually reducing the thickness of those film as approaching the electron supply layer.</p> |
