<p>A refrigerating apparatus which contains ammonia as a refrigerant and in which a lubricant excellent in compatibility with the ammonia refrigerant and in lubricity and stability is used. The ammonia refrigerating apparatus employs a refrigeration cycle which comprises a refrigerating compressor, a condenser, an expansion valve, and an evaporator and through which a hydraulic fluid comprising ammonia and a lubricant comprising a polyether compound represented by the following formula (1) or (2) is circulated.
