PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a tandem capacitor and a converter with respect to voltage rise and overcurrent without installing thyristor bypass circuit. SOLUTION: The tandem compensation apparatus for a power system is provided with a tandem capacitor 13 for reactive power compensation series- connected with an alternating-current power system, a compensating current generator 14 parallel-connected with the tandem capacitor 13, and a nonlinear resistance element 15 for overvoltage protection parallel-connected with the tandem capacitor 13. |
