摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restore the necessary curved surface of a three-dimensional object through fast computation by using a simple device, for a smooth and approximately vertical curved surface of an object having no feature points. SOLUTION: A stereoscopic camera system with focal light sources is provided including a plurality of cameras with focal light sources and a CPU, with each of the cameras having a point light source device imaginarily provided at the focal position of the camera. The plurality of point light sources are sequentially turned on and images of the object produced by the light reflected by the object are taken by the plurality of cameras. The CPU samples these image signals, determines the normal reflection points of both images, calculates three-dimensional position information about the point nearest to the surface of the object and normal direction, and computes the distance to the surface of the object. Further, the CPU estimates the cross-sectional configuration of the object from the normal direction calculated and approximates the surface of the object from these values and brightness within the area of the object.
