A presentation of text (110) is provided in a "role-play" reading format having text corresponding to dialogue of characters (112) to facilitate group reading. The text (136) is presented in different indicia, preferably color, throughout the presentation. The text for each character is selected and presented at a reading level of the reader selected to read. The text is selected from texts pre-written at different reading levels. The reading material can be presented on paper, or on media suitable for electronic display. The text is in a size and font suitable for the reading level. A legend (137) on each page of the reading material correlates the reader's identity with the character selected to be read, and applies the indicia to the character's dialogue.
