PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stock/product shape display method capable of executing quick machining simulation. SOLUTION: When a stock is a material including a machining part formed by thickening the contour of a product by a prescribed machining margin in the machining simulation for displaying the shapes of the stock, a product and a tool on a display as images, moving the display image of the tool on the display in accordance with a previously set tool pass data and successively erasing the stock image and the product image superposed to the tool images, the product shape of the machining part is displayed as a linear image expressing only the counter of the product and the shape of the stock is displayed as a face image expressing an area corresponding to the machining margin. Consequently the input of data concerned with the shape of the stock can be simplified and quick machining simulation can be attained.
