The steering system has an input pinion shaft (1) turned by a driver, and a connecting rod (4) connected to the shaft so that turning of the shaft turns the coupling about a first axis. A connection bar (5) is moved along a second axis to steer a steerable wheel. The connection rod is connected to the bar via a connection unit (5a,b), which is mainly fixed relative to the bar, and is moveable along the connecting rod towards and away from the first axis. Due to this the connection unit is moved along the second axis by turning the connecting rod.
