PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method that enables dry type rapid processing, gives a sharp image, improves continuous processing stability and unnecessitates the daily control of a solution and the maintenance of equipment. SOLUTION: In the image forming method, a silver halide photographic sensitive material having an A value of 5-17.5 (g/m2) is developed with a processing solution supplied by way of a vapor phase or by application to the emulsion face of the sensitive material. The A value expresses 2×(the amount of protective colloid)+(the amount of a hydrophobic compound), wherein (the amount of protective colloid) is the weight of the protective colloid per 1 m2 applied on the support and (the amount of a hydrophobic compound) is the weight of the hydrophobic compound per 1 m2 applied on the support.
