<p>A system and method for detecting and controlling severe echo implemented using a digital signal processor (DSP) (140) applicable to cellular telephone technology. The DSP includes an echo canceller (60) and a severe echo detector and controller (SEDC) (100). The echo canceller has an adaptive filter (130) and a center clipper (110). The adaptive filter is responsive to a set of coefficients. The DSP is accessible to a number of memories and resisters for storing the coefficients, and for controlling and executing the software modules of the system.</p> |
