PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector in which a fitting detection of both male and female connector housings can be made and in which a fitting detection precision is made to be improved even if a demand for dimensional accuracy is not changed, and provide a fitting detection terminal for that purpose. SOLUTION: A pair of short circuit terminal 5 for detecting fitting of both male and female connector housings 2, 3 is installed protrudingly at a hood part 7 of a male side connector housing 2 together with a male side terminal metal fitting 4. In addition, a notch groove 12 is installed from the front end at an upper face center of the hood part 7, and an engaging part 13 is arranged to the depth end part. On the other hand, a lock arm 14 that processes a fulcrum at the rear end part is formed to be elastically deformed in the vertical direction, at the upper part of the female side connector housing 3. A fitting detecting terminal 15 that possesses a fulcrum 27 at the rear end part is similarly mounted underneath of the lock arm 14. A lock interlock part 29 to receive a pressing force of the lock arm 14 and the joint 30 to contact with a short circuit terminal 5 is installed at an elastic contact piece 26 of the terminal 15 in the order toward a free end 28 from the fulcrum 27.
