PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch and device and method of extinction of arc by the same which can shorten a distance between a fixed electrode and a movable electrode. SOLUTION: An extinction of arc chamber 32 is pivotally mounted in relation to a busing of power, and also is constituted to move synchronously with an arc generated between two electrodes 15, 18 in opening. Also, a guided member 52, which enters into an arc generation portion accordingly to the synchronized movement to make larger an extended distance of the arc, is provided at the movable extinction of arc chamber 32. Therefore, when opened, the guided member 52 enters between the electrodes 15, 18 to intercept the arc and functions as an insulation barrier between same phases. Accordingly, anti- insulation between the electrodes 15, 18 can be increased and the distance between the electrodes 15, 18 can be shortened.
