PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for remote diagnosis and treatment using communication network, by which the condition of a patient is successively grasped by adding portable a diagnosis and treatment equipment to a communication terminal equipment and the patient can receive a remote diagnosis and treatment by connecting the equipment through a communication network to a medical institution when an emergency condition is judged. SOLUTION: This remote diagnosis and treatment system is provided with the portable diagnosis and treatment equipment for grasping the health condition of the patient at fixed time intervals, encoding and transmitting this condition and patient side terminal equipment for comparing information on the condition of the patient received by the portable diagnosis and treatment equipment with initially set basic information on the condition of the patient and driving a remote diagnosis and treatment program for executing the remote diagnosis and treatment by an automatic connection to the terminal equipment of the initially set medical institution when an abnormal condition is judged.
