The invention relates to a device and a method for producing tubes from a thermoplastic synthetic material, a material containing a thermoplastic, or a composite material with a thermoplastic coating, whose sides are welded together along a longitudinal seam. According to the invention, a pulling system is used to lay a planar tube material around a hollow fill-profile (5) with the help of a moulding slot or a moulding ring and said material is transported to a welding device (1) located on the hollow fill-profile (5). The invention aims to provide a simply constructed device which increases the speed of production whilst maintaining a sufficiently high quality. To this end, the welding device (1) consists of a heating strip (2) which is aligned parallel to the direction of transport of the tube material. Said strip is flat and level in the contact zone of the edges which are to be welded. The heating strip (2) consists of an electrically conductive material and is connected to an adjustable electric energy supply.
