摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device suppressing the color change by the visual field angle, having a wide visual field and capable of a high speed response. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device using a ferroelectric liquid crystal, the layer of the ferroelectric liquid crystal is divided in the planar direction into two prescribed-shaped regions. The direction of long axes of the liquid crystal molecules in one region coincides with that in the other region and the direction of the spontaneous polarization of the liquid crystal molecules in one region is reverse to that in the other region under no electric field and the direction of one transmission axis of a polarizer essentially coincides with the directions of the long axes of the liquid crystal molecules.
