PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image on a transfer material carried by a belt-like carrying member from being deteriorated because of an electric discharge occurring between the belt-like carrying member and the proximity member thereof by removing the static electricity of the belt-like carrying member on the downstream side in the carrying direction of transfer paper at an image transfer position. SOLUTION: A conductive charge removing brush 200 is opposed to a position being near the downstream side in the moving direction of the transfer carrying belt 121 at a secondary transfer position S and the opposite side of the belt 121 to the side where the transfer paper is carried (hereafter referred to as the inner surface) by leaving a prescribed gap. Then, electric charge on the belt 121 is eliminated from the inner surface of the belt 121 by the brush 200 so as to prevent an electric discharge from occurring between the belt 121 and a stay member 128. Thus, the secondarily transferred image is prevented from being deteriorated.
