SOLID-STATE IMAGE PICKUP ELEMENT AND ITS DRIVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup element which can be applied as the pixel of a CMOS image sensor for improving charge-voltage conversion efficiency by a general-purpose CMOS process and to provide the driving method. SOLUTION: The solid-state image pickup element has plural pixels with one mode. The pixel has the photodiode of p-n junction, a transfer transistor transferring charge generated in the photodiode to detection capacitance and a reset transistor resetting detection capacitance. The transfer transistor is driven by a pulse lower than the voltage of the high level of a pulse driving the reset transistor.
