摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device of which the spectrum width of the wave length of emitted light is particularly narrow in comparison with the conventional organic EL element, with a good characteristics of wave length selection, capable of emitting light with directivity, applicable not only to the display but also to the optical communication. SOLUTION: The light emitting device 1000 has a light emitting element part 100 and an wave conducting path 200 conducting the light from the light emitting element part, integrally on a substrate 10. The light emitting element part, formed on the substrate 10, has a transparent anode 20 constituting a light conducting part, an optical member 12 formed at a part of the anode 20, the first laminated dielectric film 11a, an insulation layer 16 with an opening part 16a facing on the optical member 12, a light emitting layer 14 at least a part of which locates at the opening part 16a of insulation layer 16, a cathode 22, and the second laminated dielectric film 11b. The optical member 12 constitutes a one-dimensional photonic band gap, and has a defective part where the energy level caused by a defect is set within prescribed spectrum of emitted light.
