PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the reception processing operation of weight data efficient and to prevent a drop in the performance of a system as a whole. SOLUTION: The postal-service processing system is provided with a metering device 17 which meters the weight of a mail object. The processing system is provided with a control part 1 which is connected to the metering device so as to exchange data, The processing system performs the postal service such as the acceptance processing operation or the like of the mail object. When the control part performs the acceptance processing operation of the mail object, it transmits a weight-data acquisition command to the metering device when the weight data on the mail object is acquired. The metering device transmits the weight of the metered mail object to the control part as the weight data only when the weight-data acquisition command is received from the control part.
