The telescopic device for an apparatus for stretching the human spinal column involves a donned support corset. The length-alterable telescopic device is fitted with an axially movable piston in a housing to an upper corset section and at the other end to a lower corset section. The piston is movable into a tension position by a power accumulator, in which the telescopic device drives the two corset sections apart. In the tubular housing (24), a piston/cylinder unit (40,46) is arranged, the connecting rod (44) of which is provided at its free end (45) with a connecting component for the one corset section. Compressed air is feedable to the piston/cylinder unit.
