PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a tracking speed of a satellite antenna by using an illuminance sensor or a steering angle sensor. SOLUTION: The method for improving the satellite antenna tracking speed includes a step where a video signal and illuminance information of a vehicle during driving are received, a step where a level of a received video signal is discriminated, a step where an antenna is turned to enhance the level of the signal when the level of the video signal is smaller than a prescribed level, a step where a current position of the antenna is stored when the level of the video signal is higher than the prescribed level, a step where whether or not the absolute value of the difference between the current illuminance and the stored illuminance is higher than a setting value, a tail lamp is turned on, or an automatic lighting system is active are discriminated, a step where when any of the items above holds, it is discriminated that the vehicle enters a tunnel, and the position value of the antenna just before the entry is stored and fixed, a step where the current illuminance and the stored illuminance are consecutively compared and discriminated, a step where when the absolute value is smaller than the setting value, the antenna position is maintained, and a step where when the absolute value is higher than the setting value, the antenna is brought into a turnable state as required.
