PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal and a system therefor, capable of efficiently acquiring desired information, and efficiently hearing it via sound at any time and place. SOLUTION: In the information recording and reproducing system in accordance with this invention, by presetting on a terminal system(TS) side a time for communicating with an information server (center)(IS) and items of program information to be distributed, the program information corresponding to the preset items are acquired and recorded in memory of the portable terminal 1 from the information server via a communication means and a charger 2 with a modem at the preset time. Since these program information are compressed voice or musical sound information, or character strings (text) or music information expressed by text code or MIDI code, respectively, a storage capacity of the memory is reduced. Acoustic signals based on the program information can be heard during a commuting time by taking the portable terminal 1 off the charger 2 with a modem. A personal computer(PC) 3 assists the portable terminal 1 in the operation of acquiring, editing the program information, or the like. |
