METHOD FOR RECORDING DATA, EDITION METHOD, EDITION DEVICE AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the connection of adequate MPEG streams and to permit seamless reproduction (continuous reproduction which is not accompanied by temporary stop by underflow of a buffer and a frame skip). SOLUTION: A current EP detector 24 supplies a trigger signal to a main data recording and reproducing device 22 upon detection of the current EP which is boundary information to indicate whether the tops or terminals of N pieces of the edition minimum units of compressed encoding data at every ECC interleave flocks. When the main data recording and reproducing device 22 receives the trigger signal described above, the device records the compressed encoding data inputted from outside through a terminal 21 from the arbitrary edition point of the already recorded recording medium. The edition point is the track which is the top of the boundary information with which the current EP is detected. The track is the boundary of an ECC interleave which is the beginning of a closed GOP and therefore the seamless connection is made possible.
