PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing high resolution color toner having excellent characteristics suitable for an electrophotographic video system by making dye molecules effectively reach central parts of respective fine resin particles while holding grain sizes and grain size distribution of the fine resin particles constant. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the high resolution color toner is constituted by containing a) a stage at which the fine resin particles having functional groups are dispersed in an organic solvent which does not substantially dissolve the fine resin particles; b) a stage at which the dye having functional groups is added to the organic solvent; c) a stage at which the organic solvent containing the fine resin particles and the dye is held for enough time to dye the fine resin particles; and d) a stage at which the fine resin particles are separated from the organic solvent.
